Writing
I began my career in magazine journalism, which led to creating digital content for start-ups starting in 1999. In 2004, I launched the Ypulse blog and newsletter, publishing curated links, longer posts, and interviews 5 days a week for over 6 years. In 2007, my book Totally Wired: What Teens and Tweens are Really Doing Online was published by St. Martin's Griffin. I continued writing as a thought leader on the Huffington Post and as a co-editor of the Ad Council's Blog. Today, I publish a weekly curation newsletter on LinkedIn called Youth Tech and All the Feels, which explores the intersection of youth, technology, and well-being.
The Ad Council Blog
Over my decade-plus tenure at the Ad Council, I have spoken on panels at events such as SXSW and Games for Change, and have been quoted in articles in The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Advertising Age, and Advertising Week. I also wrote about work I led and other trends on the Ad Council blog. Sample posts below:
How to Reach Gen X Women in 2022
How and Why We Built GetVaccineAnswers.org
Will AI Replace Human Creativity?
Kindness is Key: How the Ad Council Partnered with Kingdom Hearts to Prevent Bullying

The Huffington Post Archive
This is an archive of thought leadership posts I wrote as the Digital Director of Inspire USA Foundation, publisher of the youth mental health website ReachOut.com. View archive.
